Over the last 25 years, there have been many significant changes in the market places that mk Technology Group operates in, and customer demands have evolved. Numerous new products have been introduced during the company’s history, and technology has had a profound effect on the way it communicates with its customers and suppliers.
Although Maschinenbau Kitz has been providing profile technology for over 40 years, it was 25 years ago that mk became an international company, setting up its first subsidiary in the USA. Many subsidiaries followed including a presence in the UK in the form of mk Profile Systems since the year 2000.
mk now offers a range of compatible modules for factory automation by utilising its four product grups – Profile Technology, Conveyor Technology, Factory Equipment and Linear Motion. But, it is its system profile 2000, created in 1982, that is the basis for today’s modular profile technology system, with more than 250 profile cross sections.
mk built its first conveyor in 1976, but since 1982 its own aluminium modular profile system has formed the basis for all conveyor systems. In 2005 the first curved belt conveyor was introduced and in 2009, mk developed additional conveyors made of stainless steel. 2011 was a real landmark year – in September the company produced its 100,000th conveyor! It now offers more than 20 standardised conveyor systems, which can be adapted to transport almost any product and operational environment to serve the individual needs and requirements of our customers.
In 1991, mk’s 25th anniversary, Factory Equipment and Linear Motion were added to its product offering and the following year sees us win awards for design.
Since 2003, mk’s operational processes have been certified by TUV Rheinland in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2000, which officially certifies the reliability of procedures within mk.
As growth continued, the mk Technology Group was formed as the umbrella brand encompassing both the Maschinenbau Kitz headquarters and all of its subsidiaries and sales partners worldwide. Including of course, mk Profile Systems, here in the UK.
Today, mk has more than 300 employees worldwide and the production area in Troisdorf, is more than 15,000 m2. mk is one of the leading suppliers of mechanical modules and components for factory automation.
Here in the UK, mk Profile Systems continues to supply profile and factory equipment directly to customers, who are based in the UK and Ireland, out of its Nottingham facilities and is looking to expand the production facility later in the year.
It continually strives to improve the service and product offering we provide to our customers. Over the last few years we have seen a huge shift in the way our customers communicate with us, with technology playing an ever increasing role. In 2013 we set up an mk Profile Systems Facebook page which is another way to communicate with our customer base, and it now has its our own youtube channel. Via Facebook it can provide our customers with market and product information and the videos from our youtube channel give a good visual representation of the capabilities of the mk products and how to get the best out of them.
mk can see that social media in going to play an increasingly important role in business over the coming few years and look forward to using them to keep in touch with its customer base and further improve its service offering to them.
