Providing power to temporary hotel at Silverstone

Published: 12 July 2012 - Joe Bush

shentongroup has recently supplied standby power to a transportable hotel at Silverstone racing circuit, home of the British Grand Prix.

The turnkey solution enabled the movable hotel to be fully operational and ready to welcome guests within 48 hours of arriving at Silverstone.

shentongroup’s end to end solution included supplying two generators, distribution equipment and fuel tanks together with engineers to install, test and certificate the installation. The generators have been synchronised to run in parallel to increase flexibility in the event of sudden power disturbances. Also included in the package is 24/7 emergency call-out and a refuelling service if required.

Portable hotel accommodation is a new concept in providing luxury accommodation for major events and festivals. The portable hotel is loaded, stacked and transported quickly and efficiently to any destination by land, sea or air, then erected without the need of mains services. Each room is equipped with a bed, en-suite wet room with shower, basin and toilet as well as air conditioning, flat screen TV, wireless internet and two power points. shentongroup’s standby generator solution supplies the necessary power to ensure all equipment can be operated within the hotel complex at the touch of a button.

“We are used to working with high profile clients and managing applications that are in high pressured environments”, said James Hawksworth of shentongroup’s rental division. “Our engineers worked closely with the client to ensure that the installation was carried out without a hitch. The standby power will be on-site throughout Silverstone’s summer season.”
