The UK’s leading event for small and ultra-precision technology is back!

Published: 3 April 2017 - Sarah Mead

Now in its 9th year, Micro Nano MEMS will return to the NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 September 2017. The event, which covers the full spectrum of technologies, from laser micromachining through to micro injection moulding, and from MEMS fabrication, through to assembly, inspection and test equipment is moving to the larger and more accessible Hall 1. Located right at the NEC’s main entrance, the new hall will be the first point of call for visitors travelling to any of the industrial shows taking place at the same time.

In addition to attracting leading names to the show, organiser Datateam Business Media is introducing a number of fresh, interactive elements designed to bring all of the technologies to life.

Aaron Johnson, vice president of marketing & customer strategy at Accumold comments: "Micro Nano MEMS is a perfect fit for Accumold. Over the years this expo has been a vital part of our global strategy. Our primary focus at Accumold is micro moulding and micro technologies and this event has been a perfect place to tell our story. Each year we’ve connected with customers, met industry leaders, and learned new things about the world of micro. We’re excited to see what 2017 has in store and the opportunities it will bring."

Ian Holton, director, Acutance Scientific says: “Micro Nano MEMS is the perfect place for us to demonstrate our cutting-edge 3D Optical Profiling: the show is packed with people with a common interest in nano and micro manufacture and micro and nano metrology. With the very rapid advances in micro manufacturing leaving conventional mechanical methods of 3D metrology far behind, micro manufacturers are generally interested in the latest and most advanced methods of rapidly 3D Optical Profiling very challenging-to-measure 3D surfaces down to the nanoscale and in true colour, so it is the perfect forum to make our instruments available for live demonstration.”

Plasma-Therm’s business development manager, Helen Royal comments: “I have attended this show for the last few years and have always found it to be well attended with a good footfall to the stand, resulting in a number of leads and new contacts. There is a good mix of attendees from academics to SME’s to larger, well established companies. The NEC location makes it easy to access either by car or by public transport which is a particular advantage when exhibiting.”

Industrial titles Micro Matters and Electronics are the show’s lead media partners. Explaining why, editor Michelle Winny says: “Micro Nano MEMS is the leading UK show for the micro manufacturing, nanotechnology and microelectronics markets. It’s where people from the aerospace, automotive, military/defence, electronics and medical industries come to see new technology. Visitors will be interested in sensors, micro systems, ICs & semi-conductors, design, test & measurement solutions, electronic and computer components and we can’t wait to see what our exhibitors have to offer them!”

Also returning as a media partner is CMM Magazine. Publisher Michael Taylor comments:  “CMM magazine firmly believes in the value of having a strong and vibrant micro, high precision and MEMS manufacturing event located in the UK. This belief is clearly demonstrated through our participation at each and every Micro Nano MEMS show since its launch in 2012. We will exhibit this September again and with this year's event co-located with Interplas 2017 at the NEC in Birmingham we are hoping for our best year so far.”

The Micro Nano Mems seminar programme is characterised by high quality presentations from leading users of the technologies and industry commentators from across the globe. Neil Mead, managing editor of the industrial division at Datateam Business Media comments: “Featuring a wide range of exhibitors showcasing the very latest technologies and solutions, the event will provide design engineers with the information and knowledge required to optimise micro and nano manufacturing opportunities in this fast-developing field. The popular seminar programme plays an important role in that and we are therefore very interested to hear from industry organisations, academics and companies that might be interested in speaking at the show.”

Micro Nano MEMS is co-located with the UK’s leading event for test, measurement and control, Sensors & Instrumentation, in Hall 1 and will share in its exciting new feature area. “This is great news for Micro Nano MEMS,” says event manager Jacqui Henderson, “as it our exhibitors will also have the chance to showcase their products and solutions to a dedicated audience - live on stage - as part of Connecting Industry LIVE! - a fully interactive and brand spanking new feature area.”

Neil Mead continues: “The Live Demo Stage will be the centrepiece of this new event where exhibitors will have the opportunity to show the audience what they can offer via live technical product demonstrations. This will also give visitors the chance to learn and understand how these could benefit their own particular manufacturing operations and applications.

“Providing a vital link between product developers, solution engineers and end users, Connecting Industry LIVE will offer two days of unmissable networking, demonstration and learning opportunities for anyone involved in the manufacturing Industry.”

The Innovation Showcase meanwhile is returning for a third year running. Located at a key destination point within the hall, this too has been expanded to allow even more exhibitors to display their latest products and technology.

Registration for Micro Nano MEMS will open in May. For more information on visiting or exhibiting visit
