Galway to host the biggest international Med Tech Exhibition & Conference

Published: 6 September 2017 - Sarah Mead

Galway is about to play host to the largest meeting of the minds in Medical Technology in the country’s history. While Galway is already ground zero for medical technology in the West of Ireland, it is about to put Ireland on the map for growing that industry. Delegates from around the world will take part in promoting international innovation at the Ballybrit Racecourse on September 27th and 28th.

“It’s the most comprehensive and privately-run Exhibition and Conference of it’s kind for Ireland. We are excited to be hosting it in the West of Ireland and in such a stunning location,” said Tom Burke, with Medical Technology Ireland.

Ballybrit is a world class Exhibition and Conference Centre being utilised for the first time to host this ground breaking international Medical Device event right in the heart of the Medical Device Cluster in Ireland. It’s taking place a short distance from some of the largest manufacturers in the industry, already located in Ballybrit. More than 150 vendors from around the world will be exhibiting the latest breakthroughs in technology, research and development, manufacturing and design. Those companies from the EU, the UK, the US, Austria , Korea and Japan, will also be making history putting Galway and the West of Ireland on the world stage for the industry.

The two day event will also offer networking with the companies already established in the the west, and include speakers on the latest in regulations, funding opportunities, marketing, intellectual property rights, cyber security and quality control.

Medical Technology Ireland Expo and Conference 2017 is sponsored by researchers like Cúram, schools including NUIG and GMIT and the Galway Chamber of Commerce . In addition established companies like Medtronic, Creganna, Deloitte and 3M, and are fully behind this premiere event as a key to growing the supply chain manufacturing that will fuel the future of the med tech industry on a global level.

Medical Technology is a growing part of the economy in Ireland, already employing a highly-skilled workforce in excess of 27,000. It has been the focus of a number of government run shows and this privately run event will build on that solid foundation.

“We fully feel that getting the supply chain manufacturers and the research and development companies together with the Multinationals, in one place at one time is the answer to growing this industry in Ireland. And we are so excited to be doing that at Ballybrit,” Mr. Burke said.

The conference takes place September 27 & 28. For more information on attending contact Tom Burke at tom@medicaltechnologyireland.com.
