HepcoMotion reaffirms its commitment to modern apprenticeships

In 2012, HepcoMotion engaged higher apprentices as well as advanced apprentices. Respectively they combine in-house practical training with study for either HND/degree or HNC/BTEC qualification.
“Normally sufficient advanced apprentices feed through onto higher education to fulfil the company’s need for higher qualified technicians and professional engineering staff,” explained training manager, Bob Gregory. “But last year demand outstripped supply.”
Accordingly, in 2012 HepcoMotion decided to adopt a fast-track approach by recruiting two apprentices with A-level qualifications to go straight on to higher level studies as well as three advanced apprentices. This initiative has indeed bridged the gap allowing the company to resume its standard strategy this year.
As a result, this year two HepcoMotion higher apprentices have been drawn from previous years’ intake of advanced apprentices: Connor Gowan and Will Parr who have completed their National Diplomas with excellent results.
Gregory continued: “Both have demonstrated exceptional ability both at college and in the workplace and have been involved in the design and construction of several important engineering projects. They clearly have bright futures with the company.”
To restore the balance, three new apprentices joined HepcoMotion in August.
