Infineon's SLC3x security chips enhance contactless transactions

Infineon Technologies builds on its foundation in smart card technology with a new generation of 40nm security chip solutions – the SLC3x – based on a design concept that hopes to ensure scalability in an ever-evolving market, and of course, optimal performance. Based on the de-facto industry standard Arm, the solution combines Infineon's logistic concepts with tried and true embedded architecture, to the benefit of all payment solution providers.

This comes at a key time, as smart card solutions are increasingly transitioning to contactless, multifunctional technologies. Security is a key part of this, so new biometric features should be incorporated to facilitate a secure but seamless user experience. However, these new features and capabilities involve multiple stakeholders, unnecessarily complicating the ultimate implementation. Nevertheless, Infineon's SLC3x range hopes to settle these concerns: right-fit members of the series support the full application spectrum, ranging from low-cost contact-based pre-paid and loyalty cards, through to standard dual-interface payment and identity cards, and biometric system-on-card solutions and wearable devices – all compliant with the latest EMVCo specifications.
