Shear mixer ensure lump-free consistency

The Vitomix mid shear mixer from Hosokawa Micron makes it much easier to add liquids to powder mixtures. There is no requirement for lump breakers and mixing times are reduced, maintaining low energy consumption.
Combining gentle low shear mixing with mid shear mixing, the Vitomix reduces overall mixing times while fragile components can be added at low shear without damaging the product structure. Based upon the high efficiency Vrieco Nauta range of conical blenders the mixer uses a double screw combination which, coupled with their large diameter, means that the transport capacity is up to eight times higher then the original series.
The high rotational speeds create a fluid bed at the top of the mixer into which liquids can be introduced. The ratio of liquid, powder and air results in a homogenous powdery material containing liquids, fats or oils without lumps, for example: injection of 20% w/w of vegetable oil into flour is achieved within minutes; while injection of >20% w/w of butter into bakery products results in a lump-free mixture.
The discharge valve is designed to fit flush with the vessel wall and is compact and easily cleaned; the main mixer vessel has a large easy access door for cleaning and maintenance.
Vitomix is available in eight standard sizes from 500 to just over 13,000 litres and can be used for free-flowing products, difficult cohesive materials, slurries and pastes.
